08 TuffPly at 2007 Underwater Asian Hockey
Tournament
The Singapore Underwater
Federation (SUF) were looking for a
cost-effective method to construct UWH
(Underwater Hockey) for the 2007 Underwater
Asian Hockey Tournament. Current methods were
using stainless steel (expensive) & acrylic
(brittle and not impact resistant).
Uber was approached for a
trial of
TuffPly for the UWH barriers and it came off
with flying colors. The all-plastic, metal
reinforced composite board proved to be able to
withstand impacts in an demanding underwater
condition where it can be reused over several
tournaments.
Tuffply
was subsequently used to construct all of the
UWH barriers and this is one example of the
applications which can be made possible with
plastic composite boards.
